SCHOOL OF WORSHIP
OUR VISION
School of Worship is a three-month second level school in YWAM’s “University of the Nations” (UofN). During this school, we want to empower and equip you to lead people into God’s presence in worship. We want to see you being rooted in scripture and leading from a place of intimacy with God. We believe that a vibrant inner life with Christ will lead to a missional movement that longs to see the nations worship our God!
LECTURE PHASE:
The School of Worship has a 12-week lecture phase that aims to stir our hunger for prayer and worship. Through these weeks we will cover important topics such as:
- Intimacy with God
- Biblical foundation for worship
- Missions and worship
- Teamwork and leadership
This time will challenge you to grow in your intimate relationship with God as well as learning how to lead and facilitate times of worship and prayer. Different ways that we grow are such as
- Band practice
- Leading weekly worship sets
- Reading and studying the Psalms
- Songwriting
- Creative workshops
Therefore our school focuses on 3 main aspects of the worshipper: Heart, Head and Hands
Heart – Character. We are committed to living a life of obedience from a heart of love and intimacy with Jesus. We value worship that reflects a sincere and honest heart after God and His will.
Col 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
Head – Knowledge. We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. We are committed to having our worship expressions and songs biblically based and passing these values on to the next generation.
Col 3:16: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
Hands – Skills. We are called to sing God's praises and play instruments for his glory. We are committed to thank, praise and worship him with our music and other creative expressions. We want to steward the gifts that God has given us well.
Psalm 33:1-3: “Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.”
